Who Does What on Pigeon Talk
The Site Owners
The pigeons.biz site, of which the Pigeon Talk bulletin board is the main feature, is owned and hosted - along with other hobbyist sites - by Keebali Media.
Keebali has ultimate control over the site - and therefore the Pigeon Talk Forums - and it is Keebali's technical personnel who are responsible for such matters as site security, maintenance, software upgrades and generally keeping it operative.
The Keebali Team's interest in Bulletin Boards is of a business nature, so they do not often participate in the forums except for making important announcements, but may implement changes (such as the introduction of banner advertising) which affect the 'look and feel' of the site.
The Moderator Team (aka Mods/Admins)
Note that the Mods/Admins are not employees of Keebali, nor should they be expected to be 'on duty' at all times!
The team looks after the day to day running of the forums, but is not involved in the upkeep of the actual pigeon.biz site. For example, if members are completely unable to access the pigeons.biz site (rather than individuals with log-in problems) then it will be outside the control of Mods/Admins to resolve the issue.
The team consists of Moderators, SuperModerators and Administrators, all of whom may deal with such as removing 'spam' posts and 'spammers', moving posts and threads, removing or editing posts felt to be inappropriate, dealing with 'problem individuals', responding to questions or suggestions, and generally keeping things orderly.
The Administrators may handle a few extra functions, mostly of a more technical nature requiring in-depth knowledge of forum settings and the effects of changes. They also deal with new user registration problems and some additional anti-spammer measures.
The Pigeon Talk Members
The Members are the driving force of Pigeon Talk! A bulletin board without activity is of doubtful value, and a lack of knowledgeable and experienced members can offer but limited advice to those who seek it. Pigeon Talk has the requirements of knowledge and experience (and more) for a successful BB.
PT Members are also often the 'eyes and ears' of the BB when it comes to spammers and other 'undesirables', and misplaced newbie posts.
It is often our members whose ideas prompt change, such as additional forums.
