HI cynthia, Yes Helen's drug chart will certainly be helpful to others. Thanks for that . Is it possible to purchase these drugs from an avian supplier here in the UK, or do I have to go to a veterinary surgery??

Apart from Panacur (which I consider too dangerous to use on pigeons) they are prescription only.
I have Baytril and Synulox if you need some. You can also buy Appertex (for cocci) and Spartrix (for canker) without a prescription, Cynthia

Thanks for your kind offer Cynthia. I will definitely take you up on that offer in the future, thankfully all my piggies are well at the moment. So can I buy appertex and spartrix from a chemist or avian suppliers? Sorry if I appear ignorant I'm new to all this. Canaryjayne.

HI Canaryjayne,
You can buy Spartrix and Appertex on line, from a pigeon supplier or from the vet's dispensary. Cynthia

She suggested yesterday that we give her another round of Pyrentel (and, thankfully, no worms have passed) but I mentioned to her that there had been some concern about Panacur. She told me that she felt it to be a safe wormer provided the exact, correct dosage was given. I am hoping to find out more from her soon about this as she is going to consult a colleague of hers in Oklahoma and I hope she does mention the Panacur to him. If I can ever sit still long enough to get my thoughts together I'm doing a thread about what we've gone through with Whitey in hopes it may help someone else.

Hi Maggie, If you're talking about Dr. Marx, the article from PigeonNetwork was written by Marx, I believe. Fenbendazole and Albendazole were specifically dealt w/in that article regarding usage on pigeons, but another wormer that I've seen cautions on for use w/pigeons would be Mebendazole (Vermox). fp |
