Training my homers

So I got 3 white homers 6 weeks old. Had them for about a week. I cant get them interested in food inside the loft. I have a settleing cage attached to the loft with the trap door. They use the trap door at night to go in. However when I do the call, shake the food, and put it down on the inside they dont go in to get it. Almost as if it isnt there. However, when I sprinkle it in the settleing cage they go nuts. I tried sprinkling it on the floor in the loft and that didnt work. Made sure its in eye view for them to see from the door. The trap door isnt shut so they can go in and out when they please. I even dropped down to feeding them as little as possible every 24hrs. (and like i said if its in the settleing cage they will eat, so I know they are hungry). Its making it impossible to train them. HELP!!!! LOL

I wouldn't put food in the settling cage at all, it may take a couple days but they will catch on. So far they have you trained, I would leave them in the loft for a few days and only feed them in there, 1 oz per bird per day, maybe a little less.

Yes, they do have me trained. I would rather have them eat than not at all. im a softie. But, I can see how it would ruin my training. (when I put it on the board I just sprinkle small amounts on there so they @ least eat something). I am just going to continue to place it inside the pen. Hopefully they will eventually learn.
