Lost one and gained two...My first Frillback baby died today. He was three days old, and the parents weren't feeding him. We tried our best to save him but it wasn't enough. At least he was warm and had a full crop at the end.
On a happier note, we have two baby Capuchines that looked very happy and healthy today. They are seven days old. One of the little buggers managed to get out of his/her band. I couldn't find it so I just stuck on another. ![]()

I'm sorry to hear about your baby Frillback, sometimes the parents will give up feeding the little ones when they sense something is wrong.
I'm glad your other two youngsters are doing well, please do share a pic or two. Thank you for sharing.

I will get those pictures soon. The one got his/her band off -- AGAIN.
Its nest mate has kept it on all this time. The silly bird! And I found one of the bands. It was all the way on the opposite end of the cage... no way the baby walked all the way over there! The cockbird is almond with a little too much white, the hen is a kite. Any ideas what colors the squabs will turn out to be? One looks mostly white, the other has dark wings and white on the body. Can't wait to see how they turn out!!! ![]()

Sometimes the parents will remove the bands off the legs. If they slip off they will then carry them out of the nest like they do the egg shells.

Sorry that it is taking sooo long for me to get pictures!!! The squabs are HUGE now and walking around the nest. They seem to like being held and will talk to you if you coo at them. One is a kite (therefore a hen, right?) and the other one I am still not so sure of. S/he has the same white/dark pattern as the kite, but the color is not that bronzy black, it is more of a gray. As I said before the parents of the birds were a kite and a spread almond, and I really don't know enough about almonds to know what colors are possible. I'm just happy that they're doing well!!!
