New Frillback Photos

Most of you know by now that I am reducing my numbers for winter, since school is here. I sold my whole yellow Frillback project (10 birds) on Monday. And today my good breeding and showing Capuchines (6 birds) were shipped to a fancier in Oklahoma. That leaves my pet pigeons and my black crested Frillbacks, plus five or six young Capuchines that I still need to rehome. Here are three Frillies that were sent to me about a week ago from Kansas. I am so excited! The one cock was imported from Germany several years ago, the other birds are the offspring of birds imported from Germany, so all really good, rare bloodlines that should help me with my black crested Frillbacks. No names yet. Enjoy!

Hen...

I'm not a very good photographer. Wish you could see them in person, they are so beautiful! I have seen a lot of quality Frillbacks, but this black cock tops the charts, and he is even in full blown molt right now! Thought since fall was coming up I would put an orange backdrop behind them.

I might have an extra black YB that I could give you... if you'll be at the Reading YB Show in October. Depending on where you are in Ohio it might not be too far from you.

Glad everyone is enjoying the photos and thanks for all the nice comments. The cock bird has a kind of sad story behind him. Only three people in the US imported Frillbacks from this particular breeder in Germany. Only one person was on the east coast, and his two pairs turned out to be three cocks and a hen. During Huricane Katrina, all of the birds were killed except this cock. Now the fancier is getting surgery and has to rehome all his birds, except a handful of pairs that he will lease out to other fanciers until after his surgery. He is no longer breeding blacks. I have always admired his birds (Steve StClaire), and had the fortune of meeting him at the NPA Nationals this past January, as he was judging the Frillbacks. I doubted that I could afford any of his birds, but it was worth asking! I was only supposed to get one hen from him, but I sent him a 4-bird box because that was all I had. He did not like to send it back half empty, so he sent me the hen (with the bad eye), a mated pair, and a white crested for another Frillback fancier in PA. So I am the only person on the east coast with this bloodline and it is very important to the breed that I maintain these genetics. It is really an honor and I'm so excited, and very happy to share them with you all.

Of course, isn't that how it always is?

The show is Oct 4th. I won't be showing, but I might have a sale hole for a couple of my Capuchines, and my sister might be showing her Russian Tumbler. So I will be there for sure.

Here is their website...

Thanks! I'm not for sure I'm going to buy anything, I've just never been to a pigeon show, so I think I'll try to make it.
