without going to the au site looks like the bird came from your local club. Contact the race sec , and they should be able to find who bought that series. If i am wrong Go to the au site. Find clubs type in the bak.

The AU site can only tell you which club and the contact person. Beings its from your area. Contact the local club secertary and they can look up the person that was sold that band number series. Do you know of any one in the local club.

Erik,
I am going to try to explain this to you as well. The band is a Bakersfield Club band, the AU website is www.pigeon.org The bands are sent to the club secretary the first of each year, the American Racing Pigeon Union sends them the entire order and only tracks which club they went to. As the Secretary of the Bakersfield club it is their job to provide each of the members their order of bands, fanciers usually purchase the bands in 50 or 100 and they are in sequence the Secretary them notes which band series each of the fanciers has been provided with and keeps a record in case a pigeon should be found and they can send you to the proper contact to get information on the bird, most clubs only keep records for a few years and so the bird you have is 6 years old which may be a little more difficult although the secretary of the Bakersfield Club has been the same person for many years so he very well may have that information for you, you will have to call him and ask, that is up to you to track that information. Ok now that I have explained this to you, I am going to tell you again, you need a mentor this was a basic question that a mentor could have assisted you with and you could have already of had the information you are looking for, I don't understand what the problem is here, but what I do understand is that no matter how much I try to point you in the right direction you just flat don't listen, is there a problem with you and the Bakersfield club? You need to listen, this is really rediculous, you are 13 years old, you are sitting in Bakersfield around many knowledgeable Pigeon Fanciers and you have to ask questions about a band that came 5 miles from your house, You have in the past had many health or physical issues with your pigeons which could have been avoided for the most part if you had a mentor there to look after you, Erik just do me a favor and call the club, go to a meeting, setup with a mentor I spoke with Tom Sheton about you and he expected you there a couple of months ago, you could not of asked for a person with more experience and definate competition in the sport he is very well know in our community of Pigeon Racers, I used to live in the state of Washington and had heard of him all the way up there, and I even have a hen from him that I got while living there and brought her back here with me and I still have her and now I fly in the same federation with him on certain races, small world, you would be so lucky to get a mentor like him if he is still willing.Ellen |

I dont know why every one is getting so mad.I want to go to the meeting but I have been having family problems so that has kept me from going.I called Larry but could not get a hold of him.I do have mentors(Jack Sampson,Paul Gambino, and Leon Stevens)both Jack and Paul where out of town so i could not get a hold of the.Leon lives in elmonta and is busy so I dont want to call him and bother him. These birds are mine so its not that big of a deal of trying to find the owner(i bought them) I just wanted to know a couple things.Like why some birds had red snap bands on and then some birds had green snap bands on.But I dont think this is my fault.

Hi Erik, I BELIEVE that some fanciers use different coloured snap bands to identify various things about the birds. Such as their sex, family lines, or prize birds. I think it's basically the fanciers choice how to use these colours bands to identify individuals. I don't think Ellen is mad at you either. I think she just wishes that you would get a good mentor to help you will all these questions and concerns. You could learn a lot more, much quicker from a mentor than in the group perhaps. |

Brad,
You are correct that I want Erik to get a mentor he is not doing any justice to his pigeons nor is he learning what he could be and at 13 he could be a pro in no time with the right mentor, I did speak with Jack Sampson regarding Erik some time back when I went to the Bakersfield club house, he informed me that he really doesn't fly his birds, he also told me that he has a hard time with Erik and that Erik will not listen to him that he does as he wants, and we spoke of getting Erik a mentor and he had thought that would be a good idea, someone that could go by and keep an eye on things. Jack has a very difficult time getting around also, but he does come to most all of the pigeon shows and meetings at the club house. Ellen |
