Bird with one leg

After the guys giving me a terrible time in my club and combine about entering a one legged pigeon she took 6 place. about three months ago she hit a wire loft flying and went straight down into my pool i had to run and get the poor thing before she drown I kept putting antibotic creams on her leg but to no avail she lost it anyway. had to put the unikon band on the same and only leg with the au band. any way she was let out to fly after a couple of weeks from losing her leg and she flew great so I put her back into the traing program and she was home every toss so I decided to enter her into the 100 mile race should have seen the guys at the club when they saw she took 6 place its awsome to laugh last.

That's a real keeper!!

What a wonderful story! It's so good to hear something like that. This little one has HEART. I hope you continue to let her do her best for you for many years and give her a wonderful retirement. You should post a picture of this baby.

What a wonderful story about this little hen. I'm so glad she is able to live the life she was meant to, even with a handicap.

PLEASE do keep her nutrition up and extra pampering. Hope she gets first place!

Just a word of warning ... 100 miles for a well conditioned healthy bird is easy. The longer the race, the harder it is for the birds .. and the less likely that the bird will make it home. We've had birds that have broken a leg, and when healed, have gone out training/racing again. Learned quickly that they just can't handle the longer course - so we don't try it anymore. They either go into the breeding program, or are just allowed to loft fly and foster babies for us.

I'd hate to see you lose this strong willed bird, just for the sake of maybe seeing her on the racesheet.
