Can you raise 3 rounds of YBs?Since next year will be my first race season I won't have any OBs to raise young all i will have are my breeders. So I was wondering if I could let my Breeders raise 3 rounds so that i could have a decent YB team.

i hope so,because i may raise 4 rounds out of my 4 pairs.
you could also raise 2 rounds and give them a break and then raise a round of late hatches for the short races.i have done this with success in the past.you have to keep the breeders built up to breed 3 or 4 rounds.they must also have a longer break after you are done.i would suggest 2 rounds,a break and then 1 round of late hatches.Last edited by k-will; 3rd March 2008 at 04:22 PM. |

If they are healthy and have all the feed they need in front of them I see no problem in letting them do their thing, it's not like you are forcing them to breed? They will lay round after round naturally when feed is plentiful and they are healthy! You will notice when they need to take a break the rounds will be farther apart but when healthy the rounds seem to be more closely together!

deejay,i agree.i have bred 4 rounds many times.as long as you keep the birds built up,you can raise up to 5 rounds i would say.i know those that do it.i just think the more rounds-the longer the rest in between stopping and the next season.i wouldnt want to stop in july or august and start right back thanksgiving weekend.
