I wouldn't worm them with babies. sw is right in that it is said to wait til they are 4 months old. Wormers are a poison. You want to give that to your babies?

Moxidectin- One of a group of drugs called avermectins. Currently the world-wide veterinary medication of choice to treat roundworms and hairworm in pigeons. Wide safety margin. Safe to use during breeding, racing and moulting. Also kills any external parasite that feeds off body fluids and therefore kills all mites, including airsac mite. Limited activity against lice as these primarily feed off feather debris and skin dander.

That is word for word from a book The Flying Vet's Pigeon Health Management book.
Hope it helps. If you want something natural then I would suggest checking out a web site with Diatomaceous Earth for sale http:www.healthypigeons.com

the adult parent birds feed the babies so the medication will pass to them..so it does need to be safe for hatchlings and older young.

I think most normally would worm before they start breeding. Don't think most worm every month.

Im with you, I try to worm once every 4-6 months and try to time it when there are no day olds but I have never had any young die as a result, The parents may pass a little on but until a bird dies from it for the better of the entire flock I am going to continue.

Round worm eggs hatch every 30 days so you need to use the meds that often or your birds will have worms again if they have had worms at some point in their life.
The meds that are given to any aniamls will not kill the eggs just the adult worms.

If not checking for worms from a fecal test..then usually deworm twice a year.. winter or spring before any hatchlings and then fall after the young birds are older. the dewormers usually say to repeat after 10 to 14 days to cover any egg/larva that they may be harboring. follow the directions. some locations have higher worm concentrations so some say in the south where it does not get cold and it stays damp may deworm more than that. ( Im talking about here in the US)
