First babies for 2006...........just hatched about two hours ago!!! YEA!!!
I'm going to try to get some pics, but this pair of birds are in a very top nest box and even when I stand on a stool I can't see in the nest bowl.

yes, we got our bands early this year. everyone says that's a first in a long time. anyway, thay won't be ready to band until Jan 5th at least. went out to take pics last night and the batteries died on me. by the time I came in and changed them, Dad got on the nest and he won't let me near the babies!!

Finally got a couple of pics. We've now got 8 other new ones, but this hen is the only one that let me look at her babies. The rest want to pitch a fit and it's not worth possibly getting a baby hurt just to get pics......

Aren't they just precious as can be...
Well thank the hen for us for being so generous an letting us see her hatchlings. I love it when they are so protective  , they are just doing their job being good mommies and daddies. Thanks for sharing.

So far so good..............out of 28 eggs we have 25 hatched, one clear egg and two more to hatch Jan 6th. Pretty good for breeding in the winter time. Just can't wait till they all get big enough for me to hold and kiss them............
