This is what Becky meant with the dividers on the drop trap. This is called a 'Belgium Drop Trap' if I'm not mistaken.

That a good idea, I'll see if I can convince my grandpa to help build something like this.

Mistew is seeming to be doing very well with out those dead flights in, but I think he's a little scared of me now That wasn't the reaction I wanted but it was what I expected.

Yep, he'll be fine Just give him a little time to get over it. And thank you Kevin for posting pictures of the Belgian drop trap

Something like this, just to give you ideas.

1st picture - Trap is open to let the birds out
2nd picture - It is set to 'trap' position
3rd picture - Trap is closed, make sure to put a lock so predators can push in.

Check out the redroseloft site, but remember the pictures are of the inside the loft view. The outside will need a small shelf just below the door so the birds can use it as a landing board.

Mistew seems to be flying again...
I don't think he realized how hard he had to flap to fly the first time he leaped.
I'm always worried about mistew bonking into something and making his eye bleed, or getting in a fight wich usually he gets pecked in the eye when that happens.
Is there some thing like an eyepatch I could put over hid eye to avoid injury?
I can post a pic of how bad his eye is if you like, but just to warn there is open, wet flesh showing though it is only wet not bloody.
