Question

I need a little help!

I have a young bird with a ruptured air sac. I tried to draw the air out with a hypodermic needle. I did this a couple times but it seams to not be working. Any other ideas? Thanks, Matt

You may be drawing the air out trough the needle but when you remove it the hole closes up and the problem is back so instead of a small hole cut the skin atleast 1/4 inch this hole will give the time you need for the airsack to repair

I would leave it alone. the body will be back to normal and the air will be gone in a month or two. I got the same problem when my YB got lost in 45 mile toss and came home after two days. her body is like a balloon full of air. I then put her on a quarantine cage let her recover and after a month the air is gone and she is back to normal.

Wouldn't it depend on how bad it was? How blown up the bird is? If it is bad, it could have trouble breathing, and taking the air out would help. Can you post pictures?
