If I only had the money!!

Although extremely high priced in my opinion, Mike Ganus is showing generosity here. That sure would be fun.

Do you own a house or a car ? You could always get a loan on those items.

I like Mike, he is a premier marketer, and has done more importation of Eurpean Champions then any other fancier in the USA that I know of. However, if I had $5000 to "Invest" into my hobby, I have been able to find "proven" breeders from fanciers in need or want of cash, that have advanced my breeding program. This offer, is like buying some lottery tickets, maybe you luck out, maybe you don't. I have no idea how many GFL banded birds make their way to anyone of the numerous One Loft events which he competes in. But, many of them turn out to be fairly average pigeons, just like mine or anyone elses.

One of the best deals I ever made, was when I purchased a daughter of the President, ( a GFL bird) when he was mated to his own daughter, orginal selling price was $6000 and I purchased her, after she had produced $8000 in One Loft winnings, for $2000. She in turn produced my 2007 Flamingo winner and like $5100 in cash. So, I am not the gambling type, I rather go with the "sure" thing. But, hey....that is me.

Not sure I see the generosity in $500 a bird. I know I beat up on Mike quite a bit, but he does have quality pigeons. Still not sure whether they are worth 5k for unproven young birds. You could walk away with some top youngsters from a one loft auction for that. That is unless one of the toper is a Ganus bird. I think I would pass even if I had the money. I could enter some of mine in one loft races for that money.

Generosity would be my mentor giving me a few youngsters off his 2k Ganus birds. Generosity would be Mike donating birds to an auction for a good cause, which he has done. This is business.

All I'm saying is the birds are worth what people pay for them, and Ganus probably didn't have to throw in all the extras just to make the sale.

If I had 5k to spend I think I'd just build myself a new loft. That would be my sure thing.
