Great pictures Everyone looks happy and healthy. I saw some of the pics of the white one flying. Flash captures motion, but I'm not sure if it would work the same outside when you already have plenty of light Anyways it's a suggestion for future pictures even though the ones you already take look really good
About how many young birds do you have?

I've got 52. Had 53, but a hawk (I think) must have gotten one last week. I was missing one after they were being chased..............

Your birds look so healthy, their feathers are just beautiful! I love the first one with the spot on its head.
I'm sorry to hear about you losing one too.

Renee,
I really like the solid blue bird in the last photo. I would give anything to have a couple of solid colored birds in my loft. Is that the spread factor showing up?

If you're talking about the last picture in this thread, then the pattern is called "T-pattern". I think it's also called velvet. It's easy to tell from the light colored "T"'s on the ends of the feathers on the wing shields. If it was spread, I think the tail would have been more black or at least match the wing color a little better

Yes, that's the bird I am talking about and I keep forgetting the "T-pattern". Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm also sorry to hear about your missing bird We have 54 birds as far as I know. Lost one in training, then a few days ago a hawk got one of my powderpuff birds . We had a hawk attack today and I found a few feathers, so we may actually have 53
Just when I was getting really proud of how well my babies are doing, the hawks decide to come full blast. Not fair!

I think most people call them dark checks, except for those more into genetics. I end up calling them either dark checks or blue velvets, I guess it's just whatever comes to mind first. But hey as long as I know what color I'm talking about...I don't think it matters much
