McLaughlins 604 and Paulina

Does anyone have birds out of these birds that they are doing good with? I bought a bird from Frank this weekend that is a son to these birds and wonder if anyone here is doing good with them? Also they might even be bred from my bird. My bird is 2720. The 604 and Paulina "57150" were both imports so my bird is one of Franks early birds he bred for stock.

I don't know about those birds but I have a 03 Mclofts 2843 Cock that has produced a good bird for me this time its the only one I raised out of that pair(had a rough start to breeding season) we've flew 3 races so far the bird was top 20% the first race and top 10% the following two best postion being 13th(first in my loft 5th club) I don't have a pedigree for him but Frank said he will send it to me. I purchased from a sellout I would like to know how they do for you.

My first race I won with a bird out of a McLaughlin cockbird. It's GG-parents were 604, Good News, Leyton Express, The End, and Liv. I have another cockbird that is a half brother to the first (they have the same mom). I sent a bird out of him to a friend in california this year and it stuck around through some 100 mile tosses, so that makes me pretty happy Last year was my first year, and I'm not even going to count this young bird season, so it'll be a while before I can say anything about any of my birds really.

Kenneth, I have some already. I have a double bred "end" grandson from Frank. That bird produces good for me. I also have some from Demartino and Red rose lofts SVR birds. I have placed in the top ten numerous times in the last 2 years with mine. I also just got 5th combine auction 1st club auction, also 5th 220 miles with a gordon/SVR cross. They are great short birds and as I proved this year if you cross them with some distance you can get them out further.

Sounds Good

Sounds like Franks birds are the real deal I have heard from a few other fliers that he's as honest as they come glad to hear about crossing them with distance blood the bird I had him with was distance bird. as I learn more about my birds I hope to get a little better with my breeding selections this will be my 3rd breeding the past 2 have been horrible. I believe the cock bird has what it takes to produce.

The "Problem" as I see it, is that almost without out fail, every good winner that anyone has ever had, has had some great birds in the background somewhere. I have yet to hear a fancier say, my great winner was from a barn pigeon that was 100% feral, when crossed with my own line of losers which never won a race. If you happen to secure a "good" pigeon, regardless of the name or line, chances are, it came from some good pigeons. And "good" pigeons, when fed and housed well, will win some races. The challenge is, that most racing pigeons, are mathematically, "average". And your "average" pigeon....on average, will produce average offspring. Even a very exceptional winning racer, will....on average....produce more "average" then exceptional. Which is why truly world class champions are so rare, and so valuable.

So even if someone has closely related stock, which is doing well...or average....it is still a bit like flipping a coin. In theory, you could have two brothers out of a nest, one could be a great racer and breeding champion, and the other could be a complete dud, or simply completely average, like most pigeons. Does not matter whose name is written on the pedigree.

I wish it would all be so simple, then all one would have to do, is to purchase a few pairs of XYZ, and then one would have instant success, and win all the races. Within a few seasons, winning all the One Loft Races, one could be a millionaire a couple of times over.

I'm thinking the reality is,......that there are really very few "exceptional" pigeons out there, and it is even harder to buy them. There are just not that many, honest to goodness...."Good".....pigeons.

Really my point of posting this was to see if anyone was doing good with birds bred right from my bird. Since frank has been breeding from my bird and selling babies off it for 7 years that someone here might have birds from mine. I know it has produced many winners, children and grandchildren and that is what matters.
