the best thing you can do is to join a club and work through the club and the union. your local club will know who in the area will be willing to take you under their wing. no pun intended.

where do you live 1pigeon?

http://www.gulfcoasthomingclub.com/adoption-new.htm can be a place for your to get some birds.(club is in Florida) I learned of this adoption program from this site we are typing on now. I received 4 beautyfull birds. 2 were from Texas and a mated pair from a Florida club. The web CAN be a good resource just be carefull and do some research before any bird or money exchange happens. Also as read here in this thread. The Smith Family Loft is having a great program being offered this year.( and there birds are very good also) I have a kit reserved and will be picking mine up in person. Do a search on this site and see what others have to say. If you have a question just ask, There are many good people in this forum. I am also new to flying and find much of the informatin here priceless. Better than any book I've read sofar.

I fixed your avatar for you

And you're right, the GHC YB "kits" are good, the only problem I've had is only one of the four birds that I got were identified as a hen or cock so my very first breeding season is going to be a hit or miss proposition.

I emailed Bob the person that mailed mine and he told me the sexes of my 2 from tx. the other 2 were a mated pair so all i needed to do is watch. If he knows the sexes he will let ya know. just ask nicely.

If you want to buy birds, Go to CBS. Rick Mardis is in our club and has the best birds in the country. http://www.cbspigeon.com/default.aspx He is a AU hall of fame member. You don't have to worry about birds from him.

I live in Maryland and I buy most of my bird's in Spring Hill. These are my reason's. Normal race's are 1500-2000 birds and 130 + lofts this is a great test on any given week. Bird's do well or they are replaced, rather quickly. Alot of the flyers know how to develope and maintain a family of birds. Birds are well cared for,and most lofts are very clean. Race info is available on the GHC web site. You can see for yourself who is winning or not. Most people start with average bird's ,and are just wasting their time. One great pair is better then 20 average one's. You dont alway's get what you pay for, sometime's you recieve far less. I have spent many, many thousand's for bird's that were empty promises. Good bird's are expensive, but you have to be careful. Wood's End Loft (Bruce Cerone) live's in unit ten , and won Champion Loft and Champion Bird last season. Go to the best first, and explain your situation, most will help. The best bird's I ever flew were from Wood's End Loft. You can also find good bird's from people leaving the sport. I subscribe to Racing Pigeon Digest, great place to find bird's also.

Mojave a shame to the pigeon world

Had only wished that I had read your page 6 months back on Mojave Breeding farm, Had recommended a young fancier in my capacity of the General Manager of the Indian Racing federation, and the poor chap sent his pocket savings to Wes from Mojave, and we are yet to hear from them. inspite of numberous mail to them. Never knew people could stoop so low. and the AU, Am proud to say that we here at the federation, take seriously any compliants made against any one dealing with racing pigeons in India. Wish the AU would do the same.
With regards,
Blue Rock

They are Band from the AU!! How can the AU spread the word to the world? You must file criminal, Postal Inspectors charges on them... For some reason no one, or few do & that's the way they keep getting away with it. Don't wait for everyone else to file the charges. That's up to YOU as it happened to you & your friend..... Hap

Never dealt with them because they have a po box to send payment to always pay with a US postal money order it makes it alot easer to prove payment was sent and cashed
