My Lemons are here!

Hi All,
My new Barkels Lemons arrived yesterday! I was expecting them today, taking a vacation day today to receive them. I went to the post office, after work, to let them know they were coming and they said "They're here, we've been calling all day.". If I had gone home, instead, I could not have gotten there before they closed! Guess that's sort of a horror story, but with a happy ending.
The birds are beautiful, fat healthy and uninjured. They are pretty scared and nervous, so I'll wait a few days before I try to get pics or band numbers. The breeder did not include any paperwork so I'm not sure of thier age but tyey look fully grown with no down. Ways to estimate before I can check the bands?
Thanks for all the advice and support!
Bill

OMG....I'm glad you went to the post office then and it worked out.

I always recommend putting the phone numbers on the box so the post office can call right away when the birds arrive, I highlight the numbers and put it in BIG BOLD print-so no one will miss it, but there really needs to be someone there to pick up the phone.

Hope to see pics of your new birds soon.

the bands should have the year at least on them , but other then if they are real young you wont be able to tell how many months old by just looking at them

Thanks Lokotaloft,
I'm going to try to get more info from Strombergs, today. I know they were shipped from NM, but only Strombergs (MN) appears on the shipping label. It looks like these birds will be prisoners, but I wanted to breed from them anyway, so older might be better/quicker...

Congrats on the lemons I hope that Stromberg's gets their birds from decent breeders. They're a bit crazy with their prices.

Thanks Becky. Yeah, they were a little high, especially with shipping. I blame that on my lack of research. ;-] But I really haven't found any better deals on the Barkels Lemons iether, or very many available at all. I guess there aren't many around yet. Mine seem healthy, if maybe a little fat but I can fix that.
I emailed Strombergs but haven't heard back yet...

You're right about that part. Lemon in racers are rare so they won't be cheap! The only other place I've seen them for sale is from Barkel himself.
