My pigeons--updated

Here are some updated pictures of my birds. Some of you have seen some of these pictures, but I have moved them to my Wordpress blog and have some new ones as well. I have included Darky, the new bird I have acquired and also some pictures of last years babies, some of which have babies of their own now. There is also a few of Bandit, my bronze grizzle ( or at least I thought that). He has turned out to be a white grizzle. If I didn't know any better, I would swear they were two different birds. Take a look and let me know what you think. You can comment on the blog or in this thread.

Here are My Pigeons.

Your pictures are really good. Amazing how much Bandit changed. I've had a few that molted out a bit different than when they were babies, but I've never had one change THAT much. Amazing.........

Yes, he has changed a lot. I actually think he would have been a prettier bird if he had stayed closer to the colors he had when he was a baby, but he is still a very handsome bird.

On a side note, he has mated with Bossy, a blue-bar hen, and they are sitting the eggs now. I have a feeling the babies could really be different. I hope so.

If my birds are any indication, the first few rounds will be "normal" colored birds. I raised 60 some birds out of the same pairs and got probably 90% BB's and BC's. Then go to raise birds for a futurity and got a bunch of mostly white birds from the same pairs. I guess they ran out of color genes after 2 or 3 rounds...........

According to the charts I have looked at on Slobberknocker, it could be 50% Grizzle, and 50% non-Grizzle, depending on his background. That consists of a bunch of long words that I don't know the meaning of, so I will just post some pictures of the little ones and we shall see what we shall see.

Very light grizzles have a double dose of grizzle. Mate to a normal and you should get what you want. This should work out with the blue mate.

I hope that is the case. I like the different colored birds; it makes all of them stand out in a crowd.
