old bird race season coming up

Next week it will be March. Not long until old bird race season. How many of you are getting ready to start taking the birds down the road for training. And what direction will you be flying this year. The club here is flying south east this year. Down thru east texas and lousiana. Some times that direction. Has some good spring storms. Hopefully it will be a good season though.

OB season doesn't start until May here. Most of the flyers still have their birds in lockdown because of the hawks!

We won't be racing OB's this year To much on the go with "real life", and not enough time to devote to the birds to get them into proper shape. Scaling back on YB's too - but hopefully just for this year!

Our first race was the first week end in April. We took 1st thru 4th in the combine. Our champion bird, "2413" was the winner with three other birds on the drop with her, one of them a yearling. She won this race last year but only at the club level. The race last week wasn't so good. We came in 7th. It's funny sort of.........."2413" was our 4th bird home, the same race last year, after winning the first week, she was our 5th bird home. Think there is something about this paricular race station? We'll see how she does this coming week end. Last year she won the race coming up.
