Now I must ask....even if I missed the show live, what in the heck is "a grizzle specialist".....do they have "Blue Bar Specialist's" or Blue Check, Red Bar, Red Check...etc. ??? I should go back and pull it up from last night and listen, before I prejudge I suppose, but it just sounds a little silly to me....but to each his own. Build a family of world class winners, which is the hard part, then if you have this thing for a particular color, you can incorporate that into the family...but that is me......

Isn't Grizzle that stuff that makes meat tuff. I agree with Mr. Smith, "What is a Grizzle specialist". I am also curious to hear what this guy has to say. I had a grizzle bird once. In my opinion, when you start breeding for color you get birds that you like to look at. When you start breeding by performance you start getting, you guessed it, Winners. I always thought myself as being a "Slate Bar Blue Check Splash Pied Red Check" Specialist myself.

Randy !

You are funny !!

I am OK with the poor guy enjoying his "pretty" pigeons...I just hope he doesn't try to race againest one of my birds....they will tear those pretty wings off somewhere around the starting line....and it will make be feel bad !.....

Of course, if some day I fall on my head, or start losing races and decide to become a "color specialist"...then their ain't nothing more pretty then one of my "Smith" Red or Blue Velvets....color came from my Ludo lines...and they are show stoppers !! I guess that would make me a "Velvet Specialist"

In fact I even think there is even an old song called "Blue Velvet" !!

oh,i dont know.i have bought about 10 really nice white grizzles.while i like the coloring of a white grizzle,i also like the fact that most of them came out of some outstanding stock that has produced alot of winners.in 30 years i have won about every way there is to win, with every system for the most part, and i wanted a challenge this time around.i want to "have my cake and eat it too".this time i have purchased all whites and grizzles, and im gonna develop a family of white grizzles that will win at any distance.now,i bought ganus white horse, golden whitten blood, barcelona grizzle cock that bred money winners in the ghc,a verkerk from larry campeau, some proven bandit blood,a sion that is pure white all 4 grandparents and both parents bred winners and were winners themselves,a cock from matt hans thats father, mother, brothers and sisters are responsible for multiple digest awards.i bought lamons pair 1 blood that is very proven.point is i bought proven pigeons for the most part and was fortunate to get the color i was looking for too.i did listen to most of the interview and can say the man was a definate + to the sport of racing pigeons, and he mentioned more than once that he knows he is sort of behind the 8 ball at times breeding grizzles, however he has been fortunate enough to win quite a bit too.remember, people are in our great sport for different reasons .some fly to win at all costs, even to the point their personal lives suffer.some only care about breeding pigeons for 1 loft races, etc.some fly pigeons more for the social aspect than actually winning races.and yes, some breed for color, because they favor a certain color.keep in mind, the janssen brothers never allowed a silver or red check to stay at their loft long.they ended up elsewhere and those flyers got famous.and warren--i say this "friendly like" ----our pigeons will meet up in some of those money races one of these days, then i can see whether my birds can hang on to their wings and maybe even get clocked with your great pigeons.lol ps by the way-the man in the interview has some really nice stock that alot of people would be proud to have, and in fact he does pretty darn good up there where he flys.listen to the interview warren.while i dont think it was on the level of your interview from a knowledge point of view,it did have some good value.

What do you have against grizzle's???
You are most welcome to go on Pigeon radio just like anyone else,, I'm sure he would be glad to have you seein as how you are so knowledgable...
And just for the record,,, Grizzle isn't a color...
This guy just enjoys trying to make grizzles a major part of his racing family, and he was asked to share his knowledge...
Whats wrong with that???

i think the word "specialist" started this conversation, but, like you i had to point a few things out to the knowledgeable gentlemen above in this thread.for the record, warren has done an interview on pigeon radio, and it was a pretty darn good one.in fact maybe one of the better ones done next to vinnies interview.but, thats just another opinion.

as for the other in this thread,i really dont know him,but i do know he has some nice birds that have scored well for some good flyers around this country.he must know a little something about breeding huh?

dont attack someone because you feel he attacked someone else.arent you then doing the same thing you think he did?wow that was a weird sentence there.i better quit right here.

Grizzles are beautiful birds. I am just poking fun. One of these days I might get one that competes with the others I have. I do have some birds that throw color from time to time. I even have a few grizzle flights come up. I also have what I call my monk birds. They have a white cap on their heads. They are BC white flights with a white cap on the head. A bit strange looking, but they do fly well. They are out of a BB and BC splash. The rest of my birds are pain old BC and BB.

i know mr hill.i have to razz warren a little bit and keep him on his toes.i might further point out that the janssen brothers who i visited a few times were "blue" specialists.they tolerated dark check, but really favored blue bars and blue checks.vanderflaes capitalized on this as we all know now as almost all his birds were red check and silver or splash direct from the brothers loft.he learned to appreciate red.

i ,like warren and yourself want to develop a family of birds that are world class and can compete and win anywhere.as i said earlier, ive won money races in the past, all american awards from the old bulletin, many average speeds, speed records, champion birds,au champions, etc.but,i did most of this with "others" pigeons linebred or crossed with "others" pigeons.when i came back this time,i had a plan to develop a white grizzle family that will win 100-650 miles, fast or slow, old birds or young, money races, anywhere anyhow.ive now spent a fortune bringing in 10 pigeons..you guessed it..all white or white grizzles from ganus, hans, lamons,dr brown, hapyco bandit,etc.now...,i have bought pigeons for 30+ years and learned from alot of mistakes.out of those 10 pigeons,i already sent 2 elsewhere, that even though proven breeders, did not meet my requirements.the other 4 pairs have been paired up and will be systematically bred to 3 different mates for the rest of this year, one clutch each time.then, when i fly those different clutches,i will identify the birds that didnt breed a great pigeon out of 3 chances.this tends to tell you faster who is good and who aint.im gettin old,i dont have time to try pairs for a whole year and then switch, etc.do the math-4 pairs bred 3 different ways.this is the equivalent of breeding from many more pigeons than 8,and as i said before, you know much quicker who the non-producers are.as for the color....i like white grizzles, and some of the best racers ever anywhere have been this color.by the way warren if you read this....ludo has birds that throw white and grizzle,i have one very closely related to yours.anyway, will this work?we will see.i am a stickler for every little thing when it comes to racers, and if these birds are what i think they are,im gonna have one heck of a all around winning pigeon.time will tell.

Yes, the broadcasts are archived on the site: http://pigeonradio.com/pr/

Look over on the left side of the screen .. there will be what appears to be only two shows but click on the tiny, little up and down arrows to the right of those thumbnails to look through the archived shows. When you find one you are interested in, click on the thumbnail for that show.

Warren's broadcast was on 01/23/07 .. Smith Family Lofts ..
