Pigeons coming home

Hi everyone. I was just wondering how you would make your pigeons come straight back home. Because every time I let my pigeons fly, they always fly around for a couple of hours and then come back. I'm just asking because I was going to race my friends this weekend.

!!!!Thanks!!!!

It really depends on how far you take them. The further from home they are, the quicker they'll come home. When my birds take a little longer to come home from say 15 or 20 miles, I don't worry about it. At least they're getting time on the wing. You get them out to about 40 or 50 miles and you'll see a big difference in the time it takes to get home.

Well, 1-3 miles is no sweat for a pigeon. They'll probably take their time playing before they head home, or even if they do come home fairly quick, they'll probably take a while to land. Especially if they've been flying good around the loft, they'll need to get that energy out.
