There are a number of good books on the subject, and the problem with even this subject, is there will be various opinions as to what is a good practice.

Therefore I think that the Vets are a good place to start, one such example is Dr. David Marx DVM and his book "A Veterinary Approach to Pigeon Health".

Another good book is "The Flying Vets Guide to Pigeon Health and Management", by Dr. Colin Walker. It's the one I have and is very useful

Prevention and Nutrition for Racing Pigeons

Hi Jerry,

I know I might be about 5 years late with this reply, but I'd like to share with you the great benefits of a product of the Charles Siegel Co. In the interest of preventing and repairing intestinal problems, observed by loose droppings, the Siegel Co. sells a product that is unsurpassed in its effectiveness. The name of the product is Ecol-Tonic and is an all natural product that is effective in preventing or repairing many bacterial, viral and funal infections. It is especially useful for stabilizing the fragile digestive system in newly weaned youngsters and youngsters up to 4 months old. The entire flock should periodically be treated with Ecol-Tonic to maintain great health. It is a liquid that is diluted into the drinking water. I'm sure you'll love it if you get a chance to try it.
