Sputniks and building a loft

All,

I am building a 12x20 loft and am curious about the sputniks. Would one of the 4 footers be a good settling porch for young birds? How does it work?

Also, am planning to build separate pens within the loft.

Young Bird section
Old Hens section
Old Cocks section
General breeding area

All of these will be at least 4x6 and connected to the south wall. Would the sputnik be a good multipurpose item? Was thinking of building a hall for the birds once through the sputnik to walk down to their respective pens.

Ideas?

Thanks!
LR

LR, I was through your area recently while visiting my daughter's family in Stockton, MO. A nice area. I enjoyed the visit to the civil war battlefield a lot.

Anyway, that's an interesting idea of about a hallway for the birds to walk down to their respective lofts. I would be interested to hear how it works out. I am no longer a flier (only show birds) but used to fly. The small cages we used to acclaimate birds to the area where before the term "Sputnik" became common.

The size needed would depend on the number of youngsters you will be handling at a time.
