terified yet strangly Happy

today I homed my bird from the park down the road from my house a little ways, she circled about 2 or 3 times and then there was a flock of boat tailed grackles that she flew though and all the sudden there was a HUGE copper hawk was right behind her. my heart was pounding with every wing beat as the hawk got closer and closer. the hawk was twenty feet away and twenty feet above my bird when all at once my bird dove right under the hawk and headed tward the the loft (yes!!!!). I jumped in the car and went home hoping and praying that my bird would not circle agian and was there and when I got back my brother said he saw her but she was not in the loft (no!!!!). after a few minutes we watched her zing by and finaly land at the loft door (yes! yes! YES!) so she got a Big reward. thats enough exictment for the day. thanks. God bless,James

Thank you for sharing that.

I'm glad she made it back.

It is really dangerous to fly a bird by itself as they are a sitting duck for a hawk. Pigeons are safer and happier in numbers. A hawk can just ZOOM in and focus his entire attention on the loner, unlike a flock.

I'm sure glad he made it home. I wouldn't fly him alone again. Not worth the risk.
