To many without eggs

I got a couple birds that chase each other but no eggs this been going on for a month. Should I seperate them (cocks an hens) for a week or so than pair them back up? I have 6 babies and 8 eggs and still have 7-8 pairs that havent dropped whats your opinion? Oh to add most of the birds raced yb 08 are they still a little young?

I usually turn on the lights for a couple weeks before mating up.

Also if the hens are overweight, they will not lay. So usually the week before mating up, a lot of barley is in order.

my lights go on from dawn to dusk an than they get natural light from the sun. I dont know they might be young. I've got a handful laying there second set. I guess I'll just have a small race team this year. I will seperate them after the this breeding season. Going to make alot of corrects to my breeding loft.
But those that dont lay this season will not be paired up to there mates again.

Could be a number of issues. Very hard raced YB hen's have a tendecy not to want to lay. It is still early in the year, I would consider seperating them, and trying again in a month or so. I would also pay extra special attention to their diets and such. Perhaps in Febuary you will have better luck.

The answer to that question, may depend in part, on when you start breeding. I am of the thinking, that breeding pigeons should not be treated like chickens. This whole process of laying eggs and raising young is very taxing on the parents, and especially so for the hens. I personally avoid having my hens raise more then three rounds, as I am looking to produce quality and not quanity. In which case, mine would be finished in March.

There are commercial pigeon sellers where they have waiting buyers for whatever is produced, so some of them produce YB's all year long. In some of these cases, they are getting thousands of dollars per bird, so in these cases, the hens are pumping out the eggs as fast, and as often as possible.

So, I suspect you will get answers which will be all over the place.
