Treating Internal & External Parasites

I was wondering if anyone uses The Endo-Ecto Parasite Drops? I was looking at this in the Siegel's catolog. It says one drop on the foot once a month treats internal and external parasites. What do you know about it?

Personally, I've not heard about it.

I don't know anything about it either, BUT.........if you've got to catch up the birds anyway......why not just spray or dip them? (It's not like they're going to sit on the perch and wait for you to walk around a put a drop of this stuff on their foot.) Then you KNOW that you've taken care of the buggies.......I believe that you can also put a drop of Ivermectin on their foot or back or somewhere and it will do the same thing. There's just so many chemicals (not sure if that's the right word to use) that will kill the bugs. Every product you buy most likely has these chemicals in some way or the other. That's why some of these bottles don't have the ingrediants on the label. They're just selling you the same chemical under another name and charging you extra money......
Go with what works is my opinon. $18 to $20 for a pint of Permectrin II.......put some in a bucket and dump the birds. The bugs will go away.
I see that it's not listed on their web site..........I'll have to look at my catalog.

I have seen it, and at some point, I could swear I used it. Now, I use a dip, Malathon -57% which is reportedly good for up to six months. I also use "Moxidectin" which is a worming medication which also kills blood sucking insects. Between those two and "Pest Strips" and an organic "Dia-Secticide" powder, I think I have my bases covered without excessive use of dangerous chemicals. I also went this route because for me it was easy, simple, and effective.

About twice a year, I change the pest strips, dust the loft, and dip the birds. And except for the occasional worming which also kills lice etc., I am done.

Borax in the water is good. I use it too. BUT, if you have an infestation of mites, lice, pigeon flies, it's best to dip or spray or dust the whole flock and make SURE you're rid of those pesty boogers..........then the Borax helps keep them clean of buggies........if used regularly

Twenty Mule Team Borax.........you can get it at Wal-Mart and most grocery stores. It's in the laundry detergent isle.
One tablespoon per gallon of water.

Nothing. Mine drink it all the time..........well, not all the time, but your young birds especially will drink it at first. Won't hurt them. Hasn't killed any of mine so far..........just don't let them play in the Borax powder its self. Make sure it's dissolved in the water..........

dusting UGH!

i've decided that i don't like dusting. i just got done dusting my birds, and most of the dust hit the ground, hoping enough got on them, tried to get under each wing and the base of their tails, then a splash on their back, talk about an inexact science. i'll be dipping fo sure from now on.
