white birds wiped out by predator

after 3 years of ZERO predator issues, i woke up to a loft full of dead birds today. a few were eaten completely but it got all but a couple of my white birds, most of which were just strewn about with no heads. i'm assuming this was a raccoon, have a box trap set for tonight, something tells me i'll be up waiting too.

anyone have any white birds they want to get rid of reasonably?

thanks

I'm assuming it got in through the trap door. That's how our raccoon got in once, and we had the same happen.
A solid cover/flap to put in front of it will keep anything from getting in.

Raccoon, opossums, and cats make the most awful scenes to be greeted with when you walk in Sorry for the loss.

I'm really sorry. I know what that feels like. In my case it was rats.

That is so crappy for this to happen, It seems like everthing wants to get at our birds sometimes. I know wild animals don't know better, but you still feel violated. and the post your refering to I think it is a young person if that may explaine anything. so sorry for your loss of your birds.

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to find. I know you work very hard to take care of your birds, so this must be devastating.

I beg to differ here, that is a very valid and insightful comment. It's the fanciers responsibility to insure the safety of it's lofts contents. It was a hard lesson for me to learn when I found a cooper hawk inside my loft, but it was me that had left the security door open. Think, then type.

sorry Jazzman, his bob trap WAS locked so he is not at fault, I would of not thought a coon could bend mental, but well now we know, he did not leave the door open as you did. read, then type.

This is what Aaron told us in post 7

it did get in through the bob trap, the extra heavy duty locked bobbed trap, bent the hell out of it getting in.

I'm sorry for your story. I had that happen too and that was my fault.

Now don't get me wrong here, I'm sorry it happened too. My point is a locked bob trap is not the same as a solid door.
