A New Friendshiphttp://www.flickr.com/photos/8358728@N03/
^^^^So, these are some pictures i wanted to share^^^^ My mum found Baby Bird just 9 days ago, he was down a lane near my house and was cold and not moving very much. She was walking the dog so when she got home she told me there was a small bird and we should go get it before the dogs do. We didnt know if he'd survive as he wouldnt eat or anything... Nine days later he's eating like a horse and growing very quickley. Today he met my budgie, Bluebell. Bluebell ive had for almost 9 y.o. and for the last 2 years he hasnt come out of his cage without almost having a heartattack (literally), but today i got him out and put him near baby bird and he was calm. I held bluebell on one hand and had BB (Baby Bird) in his makeshift nest on my lap. All of a sudden Bluebell jumped on to BB's back and started cleaning him. They had a bath todai and seem too be good friends. They're an odd couple as they're personalities are very different, but i think it works as Bluebell is usually very viscous but BB is about 2x the size of him and gentle. i think they look good together.... What do you think? ![]() |

Hi pigeon_lurve, Very cute pictures of your BB and Budgie, Bluebell. Both look very healthy. I think, you should probably let them interact and visit under supervised conditions. Your baby pigeon already out weighs your parakeet and may get agressive with his little companion. Just something to keep an eye on, as it can happen. |

They DO make a lovely "odd" couple, Pigeon_luvre! Hopefully they will become the best of buddies!
I do agree with Victor, that vigilence is a must. You don't want any "accidents" that could be preventable. Although Mr. Squeaks has lived with my cats for almost four years and is allowed out and about, I still keep an eye open... HUGS and SCRITCHES to ALL Shi & Mr. Squeaks ![]() |

Hey dont worry i always supervise them, id be more worried aabout bluebell attacking BB than the other wai around tho, he can get very viscous especially for his size... he usually attacks me and my hands are filled with scratches and cuts from his claws and beak...
Anyway, turns out bluebell doesnt want anything more to do with BB, he refuses to come out of his cage again, at least he gave it a go tho ![]() |

Sounds like you and Bluebell are definitely in need of some counseling
. Has he always been so afraid of you or just since the oil dunking?Even if the budgie can nip with his beak, the pigeon definitely has the "reach" on him so should they ever get together again just keep an eye out for the two of them. |
