Coo-Coo Pigeon & The squirrel

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would share this cute thing I witness every morning. I put my bird into a outside cage on our patio which sits on a huge table, after I put Coo-Coo in, here comes this squirrel that comes right up to the front of it and he sticks his head in and starts munching away on my birds food. Well here comes big bad Coo-Coo puffed up and standing like he is so big and powerful and he watches for a short few seconds and starts pecking the squirrel's head. The squirrel looks up at him like, Hi! do you mind I am eating my breakfest... Coo-Coo continues to peck him again, and again.

One day the squirrel beat us to the cage outside and was sitting in Coo-Coo's basket with a peanut in his hand like he owned the joint. When we opened up the door to go out the squirrel jumped up using his little hands he held on to the bars at the top, and managed to pull his body through the cage and off he went. My cat has recently taken part of the cage thing to, she now likes to cat nap in Coo-Coo's cage.

I will take some pics and post them soon.

Andi

This is a cute story Andi! I can't wait to see all of the renters that Coo Coo is renting his vacation house out to.

I can imagine what kind of deposit was left.

Made my morning, Andi!

That story is just toooooooo funny!! Loved it!! Would LOVE to see pics!

Hear what you are saying about your cat. Mine, too, like to "visit" Squeaks' home when he's out and about.

I remember one night, I put Squeaks in his home and closed the door. Although it was dark, I didn't think anything about it. About 2 seconds later, I heard this commotion in his cage! Gypsy had been IN there when I put in Squeakers! His home is in my bedroom and I was just getting ready to climb into bed. Luckily, it was was Gypsy, surrogate momma kitty, who is always after him to either play with her or to lick him! Squeaks was NOT amused. Now, I always LOOK!!

Andi and Shi, both stories were great. Shi, that reminds me of our cat Butler (many years ago). We spotted a mouse run across the room and go into our linen closet. Had never seen a mouse in the house before (or after). We put Butler in the linen closet with the mouse, waited a few minutes, heard nothing, opened the door and honest to goodness, they were sitting side by side.

Can't remember now what happened to the mouse.

I had a very determined squirrel that was not afraid of me, that managed to find a hole in the aviary and started eating with my pigeons. I found quite a few holes, and had to close them. We used hardware cloth, and chicken wire, covered with heavy duty fencing.

I really don't trust having them eating out of my birds feeder, for fear of disease....or is that another myth??

Anyway, I closed up the holes and fed her elsewhere. Being that she was so determined to eat I figured she was just a mama trying to do her job, and feed her young.

Maggie and Treesa,

isn't it funny, sometimes, how different "species" get along. Obviously, neither felt a "threat."

Your stories are so cute! Many thanks! Sure gave me a warm heart chuckle!

P.S. Andi, "Coo Coo and the Squirrel" sounds like a great title for a children's book! Ever consider writing one???

ya know that is a cute title for a book

coo coo and the squirrel....I would love to write a book, but what or how does one go about getting something actually published? The stories& Pictures here on this forum is a book that I would buy, as I know most members here would. If any of you have any information on what it takes in getting a book published please post... Maybe everyone here could contribute to it.

Thanks
Andi

Yes, I know. No, she doesn't get a chance. Squeaks doesn't let her! He sees her coming every time! Hope continues to spring eternal for Gypsy. She always backs away when Squeaks does his hop/flap routine and waits for the NEXT time. Sometimes he will go after her instead!

Twiggy is the one cat that he seems to chase the most. Probably because she leads him a merry chase before FINALLY jumping up on something to get away. Never a dull moment around here. Sometimes, I have to tell Squeaks to QUIT and leave Twiggy alone!

There have been a couple of times, I have had to rescue Bubba, my 16 yr. old Scottish Fold. Bubba is afraid of Squeaks and will avoid him at all costs. Unfortunately, there have been a few times Bubba wanted to use the litter box in the bathroom and Squeaks cornered him. I heard Bubba hiss and had to rescue him. Squeaks just walked away with the attitude "humph! Don't mess with the beak!"

And such is life with 4 cats and a bird with ATTITUDE!

I hear you. I already asked but no one seems to be in the publishing arena OR willing to admit it...

Would be quite an undertaking but I know a PT book would sell - most members would buy (ESPECIALLY if they were IN it) plus they would tell all their friends and family and the word would spead and spread and...

Actually, one could just make copies of the various stories, type them up as chapters, have someone edit and voila...
