Coo-Coo Summer & Kids

I quit my job as I told you guys I had planned. And this summer I watched 14 kids on my own with the help of a high school girl... Long hours 7:00 AM-6:00 PM.

Every day for about two weeks the kids kept asking me to bring my pigeon out so they could see him and hold him..Well I finally did one day and Coo-Coo really showed off in front of them.. He danced , cooed, and played with his pooh. oh! and of course poohed on me.. the kids loved that one.. I watched all the kids as they were watching Coo-Coo being passed from one arm to another And it was as if they had never seen a pigeon or never really bothered to look at one until then. . They were in awe of Coo-Coo , laughing at his silly ways, asking me questions 1 after the other.

I really believe Coo enjoyed the kids as much as the kids enjoyed him... I had one of the kids ask me if I would sale him Coo-Coo for $125.00. I told him I was sorry Coo-Coo is not for sale.. He said well then tell me how to catch one. I told him that wouldn't be nice , what if you catch a mama pigeon and the baby is left without it's mom? etc, etc, I told him to talk to his parents and to also check out Pigeonlife.net under adoptions. He is in 4th grade and just fell in love with my bird...

Maybe Coo could go to schools and show them just how special pigeons really areI really think by seeing them up close and seeing their personalities it changes peoples opinions of them..

Andi

Thanks for sharing Andi.

You definitely made a difference for pigeons sharing Coo with them, they will see them in a whole new light.

I think all our pets should go to school for SHOW and TELL, for some much needed damage control for pigeons reputations.

Well Andi,

It Sounds As Though You Did Not Have A Shortage Of Work!

That Is So Important What You Are Doing. I Have Always Believed That Children Have To Be Taught To Respect Animals.

Hats Off To You Andi...you Keep Training Our Future Generation In That Direction. The World Will Be Alot Better Place For It.

Just Love U

I wish someone had brought a pigeon into my class as a child. Then I would have had several more years with them; I know I would have fallen in love with them then. That's a great idea to take Coo to some classrooms, what a wonderful way to educate children to grow up to to appreciate all animals... even dispell the "rats with wings" theory.
