Forgotten Hero?.....the Mocker

The MOCKER another forgotten hero of WORLD WAR 1 His band number is AU-17-D-4084, redck splash.While serving with the 77th Divison in the ALSACE-LORRAINE area His most outstanding performance was on Sept. 12,1918 on the Beaumont front in the St. Mihiel sector. GERMAN artillery was holding up the advance. A message sent from a observation point,carried by MOCKER,enabled our artillery to pin point the enemy guns and distory them.Thus enabling our troops to capture the town of Beaumont. Mocker was wounded during this flight,losing his left eye and part of his head.Even though badly wounded ,he gallantly reached his loft and delived this vital message he recoved from his wounds .He was awarded the DSC and the French Croix de Guerre. He died June 15 ,1935 is body was mounted and put on display at Fort Monmouth New Jersey.

FOOT NOTE: FORT MONMOUTH is on the list of bases to be closed. i hope that there is still a museum there. Maybe some one from NEW JERSEY can let us know. LETS NOT FORGET OUR FEATHERD HERO'S GEORGE SIMON
