Super Powered Pijies #11

The Pijies had left, and Pete's street returned to some semblence of normalcy. Ok, there was a squashed police car, and two officers thumbing a lift at the end of a street. But otherwise, it was a normal night.
As you could imagine when the family came home, there wasn't a lot of external evidence to suggest anything was amiss. So they went into their house, as they normally would. They disabled the alarm at the keypad, not knowing that the whole system was toast. And not the nice kind of toast. It was the kind of toast that had been left in the toaster for about three hours, and filled the place with an acrid eye watering cloud of smoke.

Not nice, and totaly usless.

As you do after any journey, it's nice to kick off your shoes, put on the coffee machine, maybe switch on the TV, and just settle in. There would be plenty of time to unpack later....

'Where's Tiddles?' She said.
'I don't know, probably trying to disembowel something as usual' He answered.
'Shush, - He's a little dear really, you just don't understand him.'
'Honey, most cats leave a bird on the porch. - Last week he left an adult Grizzly...I tell you, that cat is just not right'.
'Oh....He's just showing you he loves you.'
'Flowers, chocolates, candelight, long walks on the beech in the moonlight. That's love. Large, furious, hogtied, Bears with Huge claws, isn't. - It's an important distinction.'
'You NEVER liked Tiddles from day one.'
'I also used to have the full use of all of my fingers.'
'Oh JUST FIND HIM!'.
'Mumble-mumble-Ok-I'll-find-it'.

He couldn't find Tiddles in the Kitchen. He checked the living room, the back porch, the washroom.......there was a whole lot of "No Tiddles". He returned to

the kitchen clueless. Then something made him look up.....

Tiddles was crouched down in the darkest corner furthest away from the door. He was whimpering in a very 'Un-Tiddles-like' manner. Tiddles never whimpered. He was, however, often the cause of whimpering in others.
'Honey'. He said. 'Could you come here, I found him'.
She knew that there was something wrong.
1. - He sounded so sweet, kind of like someone in shock.
2. - He wasn't screaming in pain as he usually did when Tiddles gave him his 'Love scratches' on coming home.

She couldn't believe that Tiddles had managed to scrunch himself up in the furthest corner of the highest closet in the kitchen. But she knew what to do.
She went over to Tiddles toy pile (yes, no matter how evil the cat, they all have toys.)
She selected one at random, and waved the small stuffed mouse in the air while she called Tiddles.

No reaction.

She ditched the mouse, and started digging until she found what she was looking for. Tiddles favourite toy. The one she had to replace again and again due to it's ritual savaging.

A lifesize catnip Pigeon.

If you call screaming like a Banshee, diving for the nearest exit in a streak of fur, and making for the horizon at speed, then you could say that this one deffinatly got a reaction.

'what the heck.......!?' she exclaimed.
'Did you notice his new hairstyle?'
'What are you talking about?'
'Nothing. I need coffee.'

A couple of minutes later, the coffee was brewed. She liked sugar. He didn't.
She took her first sip of coffee, after drinking airport brew. The anticipation was palpable.
Schpppppppppuittt! and a stream of coffee hit the opposie wall.
'What's wrong?' said he?
'Sss-ssss- SALT!'
'It wasn't me! - you sugared the coffee yourself'. he said pre-empting her building fury.
She made herself another cup.
She reached for a spoon to stir in the (untainted) sugar. The drawer was stuck.
She tried to open it.
No joy.
She rattled it around, tweeked, teased, and pulled like the devil, eventually it sprang open.

Not a spoon to be found.

She repeated the process again, and again until she found the spoons in what used to be the towel drawer.
Urrrgh!!!!! - she was miffed indeed.

Someone was going to pay, she just had to figure out who.
Then her eyes found some of the family photographs.

'Darling? do you notice anything different about my parent's photographs?'
'No?' he said puzzled.
'Look again.'
'Well it looks like someone drew glasses and a beard on your dad.'
'Yes'. and I think I know who.
'Mind you, they erased most of the facial hair from your mother, so I guess you win some, you lose some..'
'Shut up. Dont you realize what's going on here? - The SPPs have visited us. and by the looks of it they might have had help.'
'It's time to make a few phone calls. This will not go unanswered..Now find Tiddles!'
'Yes Dear.'

I just love the man of the house's sarcastic humor. I was wondering what was going to happen once the people came home. Now I know.

Alvin - PRICELESS. I love it. Must say that I was surprised the family knew about the SPP's though. Poor old Tiddles - he'll never be the same. Ha Ha!

I wondered how they knew it wasn't the Super Powered Grizzly Bears that gave them a visit. Just wait until they find out that they will be audited by the IRS.

Great Story Alvin! What will happen next?

Yes, the S.P.Ps and 'Die Teufel Tauben' will be there.

Not to worry, Pete...SPPs have wonderful powers, among which, is the ability to "teleport" at the first sign of any trouble...

The pijie haters did get their just desserts...turn about is fair play and they might as well "live and let live!" After all, the SPPs are around for a reason: to uphold truth, justice and the pijie way and "beak" those who are evil doers...

Besides, let Tiddles be a lesson to them...
