The bus arrived back in Omaha just as the sun was rising. Tooter was drained. 'Pooped' if you will. Well he had managed to jump all over the Continental U.S.

collecting the SPPs and getting them to New Jersey, then getting back to Omaha, directing operations, and then picking them up again before they got

discovered......Yes, his wings were tired.

But he was smiling. Yet another Pijie Hater was delt with. But something was itching like a piece of feather sheath that he couldn't scratch out of his beak.

And that feather was called 'Moe'.

'Dinkster, can you tell me again - Why is he here?'
'I don't know Boss. We were all hiding, then you screamed 'All abord!!! and everyone just sort of rushed.'
'Dinkster, he's carring a video camera, and a microphone.'
'He could be a tourist???'
'Dinkster.......He's wearing an 'Action Pijie News!' ball cap.
'Whooops!?'

Tooter took Moe "under his wing" so to speak, and lead him off into a corner for a quiet chat.
Gertrude noticed this and asked Squeeks what was going on. He was looking for an excuse to talk to Squeeks ever since he got back. He was still owed his peanuts, and Squeeks was the guardian of same.

'Oh, that?' said Squeeks. 'That's just Tooter making Moe an Offer He Can't Refuse..
'I'm not sure I like the sound of that'. Replied Gertrude, he had taken quite a shine to the boundless enthusiasm of the young reporter. Particularly the way he folded up laughing when Tooter squashed the police car. Gertrude could spot potential...

'It's Ok, every 'normal' Piji who get to see the SPPs in action gets the Offer.
'I didn't'
'You're not normal.'
'Neither did Doodles.'
'Making Doodles an offer he couldn't refuse, would take too long. Tooter would have to explain it first. Most likely with glove puppets.'
'So what is this offer'. Asked Gertrude watching Tooter and trying to beak-read from across the Pijie Room.

'Well the offer is either you keep quiet about the SPPs.'
'Or? growled Gertrude'.
'Or, you join us.'

'Well, that dosn't sound too bad.'
'You haven't seen Squeeks when he's hungry. - He can get very testy'. Said Dinkster coming across to the two Pijies.
'Hey! are you saying I'm Fat?'
'Nope, But you are carrying a couple of extra pounds there Squeeks.'
'I can't help it if I'm a well muscled Pijie'.
Hali sneeked up behiend Squeeks, and screamed 'BOO!!!!!'
Squeeks jumped a foot in the air dislodging the pound and a half of peanuts he had hidden under his cape.

'Well, well, well, What have we got here?' Asked Gertrude. 'It looks suspiciously like raw, unshelled, unsalted, peanuts.'
'I was saving those for my retirement.' Moaned Squeeks.
'Come on Squeeks, You have years yet before you retire.' Said Dinkster.
'No, I ment before I go to bed. - They're my nighty-night snack. A super Pijie like me has a huge metabolisim.'

Gertrude munched a couple of peanuts, along with Doodles. Squeeks threw in a bag of Safflower seeds too, as an extra special thank you to the two visitors. Doodles packed them away for the trip home. With a thanks, and a wave, they shot off back to Dublin.

Tater spotted something that dropped from Squeeks cape along with the peanuts. It was a picture of a lovely lady pijie..
'Who's she?'
'Gimmie THAT!' Screamed Squeeks, blushing furiously.
'Hang on,' chuckled Dinkster. I know her. That's Garye. What are you doing with a picture of Garye Squeeks-my-boy?'
'Er...Eh..IWASJUSTKEEPINGITSAFE!!'Rushed Squeeks 'Yeah!.....While...yeah..While she was having her nest fumigated.....darn feather mites! So give it back!'
Dinkster grinned and passed back the photo to Squeeks.

It was getting late when the meeting finally broke up. Hali, and Moe went back to Pete's, Tater, and Mary Lou, went back to NC, Dinkster left last.
Tooter was just settling down when his Pijie command chair beeped. Tooter had another email;

To the group calling themselves the League of Super Pigeons

You have won this time, but you will not be so lucky again. We will never stop hating you.

And it was signed the "International Assiocation of Pijie Haters".

One thing was for sure, The SPPs were not so 'Secret' anymore.

Oh Alvin, does this mean mission fully accomplished? No more stories?

I will suffer withdrawal symptoms.

Tater and Marylou got a big surprise when they landed in NC. They went to the garage and found it empty - none of their buddies there, no food, no water, nada. Then, mom saw them and after a lot of hugging and kissing and sweet talking and telling them how brave they were, not to mention how talented, she took them to their new aviary where all their buds were.

It was a really nice reunion. They got extra safflour seed and the last mom saw of them they were telling all their buds about their adventure.

Mom didn't have the heart to tell little Tater that he is probably going to be left behind when his buds get released because his feathers are not very good and he'll need a good molt before he can go. But, with his personality he'll survive. We'll put him in with Briggs and Stratton and he'll have a new audience to entertain.

Lovely story ALVIN. The ending didn't look to promising for our "brave ones".

But, Tooter doesn't take a threat that easily. What is going on?

Obviously, the SPPs haven't seen the last of "action!" Where there are evil pijie haters, the SPPs will always be in demand. And, with the way things are, I sure don't see the demand diminishing!

Garye will be THRILLED to know that Squeaks had her picture. He also keeps one of Cindy's Sadie, but that one is taped on the wall, next to his home!

Squeaks sent a message to Tooter hoping that his "patch" his still working! OR, better yet, he got a more permanent repair!

Negotiations are ongoing.
Tooter wants less flying time.
Squeeks wants his own trailer.
Gertrude wants top billing.
Doodles wants more crayons.
Tater wants creative independence,
Mary Lou want's more R&B.
Moe wants a PA.
Bright Eyes wants more charactor development.
The only one not complaining is Hali. - Her Agent is doing that for her.

Bloody hell, there is nothing like working with a bunch of Pijie Prima Donnas........But still You gotta love 'em.

AHA! SO THE SECRET'S OUT! Mr. Squeaks may be a celebrity but he's like anyone else - he has his weaknesses. A photo of Garye - that proves there's more than a simple passing glance he's made towards her in the past from afar.

It's a good thing her hubby does not know about this!

Garye, of course, has been blushing ever since she's learned about the "accident."

She never knew how much of a mark she made on Mr. Squeaks.

Well, I know Squeaks is quite taken with Garye and she has been with him. But, we know that it's not meant to be and only a "dreamin'" situation. Garye is taken and Squeaks doesn't mess around with mated hens.

Truly a "from afar only" situation... Squeaks would never want to cause tension between Garye and her mate (BTW, what IS her mate's name??), but he will be thinking of her and with his powers, keep her and her family safe!

Now, Alvin, Squeaks is very unpretentious and doesn't require a trailer - too much upkeep. He needs to ready to go at instant's notice. Of course, I can't speak for the other SPPs but usually they are not, pardon the pun, "power" hungry!

Gertrude is one of the most interesting ones! He's a real bad a** and has the perfect companion (sidekick) in Doodles, who can act as comic relief! While Doodles might not be the brightest pij in the group, he sure has his own charm and is quite lovable! AND, can get Gertrude out of some sticky situations when he tends to become too macho pij! Doodles is a master at disarming...

Tooter, of course, has picked up many "military" secrets from Victor and is perfect as the commanding strategist.

Unie, has learned a LOT about meds from Pidgey and can use her knowledge in many ways, whether keeping the pijies alert or helping w/any possible injuries. Because she is blind, her other senses have been honed to a very high degree, which can give her a distinct advantage at night. Also in situations where eyesight can't be used! She works well with Bright Eyes and they compliment each other.

This is turning into quite the soap opera isn't it. I didn't expect to see a romance blossoming in this adventure, I can't wait to see what's to become of it
BTW....rumor around the neighborhood is the I.A.P.H. & Tiddles have hired the master of evil...Dorian Von Nastypuss to aid in the eradication of the SPPs.

WW - don't let that expression fool you! It's only a facade! The true "devil cat" lies beneath! (remember the xpression of Puss in Shrek 2 BEFORE he attacked??)

And, finally, better to SEE (KNOW) your enemy...the SPPs will be better prepared!

P.S. Tiddles probably "coached" him to have that look so he would elicit just the reaction WW had! Disarm the enemy is his motto!

Harold. Garye's hubby's name is Harold and yes she was once wild about Harry. I used to see the two of them heavily "billing" in the parking lot. Made me blush! They're still together. He tries to act the "man" by driving her away from other males but Garye puts her foot down every now and then. She is an independent pigeon. But I think she and Harry have been through so much, that she'd probably never leave him.

HAROLD?! What a great name! For some reason I picture a very scholarly "proper" pij with glasses! I'm sure Harry can be a real macho pij when he wants to be, but maybe being so proper is the reason Garye "dreams" of Squeaks! And, who knows, independent hens tend to love the "taste" of adventure!

Also, Squeaks does seem to be attracted to the strong independent type! Well, I personally send my best to the happy couple!
