Found A Pigeon in Oshawa

Hi folks, was wondering if you could help me find out where this pigeon is from or is going to. We found a pigeon on our balcony with the following on its band:

CU 2005 17725

I can also snap a picture if that would be helpful.

I understand the C means it's a Canadian pigeon but that doesn't narrow it down much!

It doesn't appear to be injured and is partaking of the bird food and water we set out for it.

Any info on where to go from here would be helpful.

Thanks!

Jason Douglas

Hi Douglas,

Thanks for wishing to aid this Pigeon.

You should start a fresh thread for your question on this matter.

No one is likely to find it here under this heading, which was suposed to be a general primer and not a on-going place for discussions about questins respecting found Birds.

Good luck...!

Hello Jason & Welcome,
Thanks for helping this little lost pigeon find it's home.

Brad, one of our Moderators, resides in Oshawa & perhaps he will be able to assist with the Canadian banding system.

I'm not sure about this but here is information on the bands with the CU on it only.
17101 - 17800 London Central R.P.C.
C/O J. Mitoraj, 11 Dengate Cres., London, ON N5W1V7

Here is the website to the Canadian Racing Pigeon Union, band listing page:

www.canadianracingpigeonunion.com/bandlist.html

There are three 2005 band listings to click on, the above was on the third one.

Hi Jason,

Sorry I'm late responding here, I'm in Oshawa as well. I searched the band number and found that the bird is from the London, Ontario area.

Band series 17101 – 17800

London Central R.P.C.
c/o J. Mitoraj, 11 Dengate Cres., London, ON N5W 1V7

There are no phone numbers given unfortunately that I can find so the only option is to call the Canadian Union office at 519 652-5704. They should be able to locate the band secretary for this club and then the owner directly.

Keep us posted,
