Hi, Gary,

I have sent an email to the person who handles that with the NPA but I expect that it'll take a day or two to get a reply especially considering that it's Saturday night.

Does the hospital still have the bird?

Hi Midniteblue4,

And welcome to Pigeon Talk. Thank-you for rescuing this bird in great need of help. Regarding the vet that you took the bird to, did you sign the bird over to the vet?? Or is your agreement that they are holding until you find the owner?
I ask because many vets will require you to sign the bird over with no say as to the outcome of the treatment. Do you know if this is an avian vet?

Here is a link to the National Pigeon Association that I hope can be of use to you. In the meantime, I'm sure others will be along to offer you more aid and assistance.

hello, the animal hospital, i sent the pigeon too ,still has the bird . the hospital said they were going to locate the owner thru lists and or contact the local spca here to find the owner. also i did not sign the pigeon over to them , tey were going to treat the eye of the bird because it was like blood shot , some kind of minor injury near the neck , they said .

Okay, Gary,

I got a reply from the NPA--they said that this band was sold through Foy's so we're closing in on it. As it's a 2004 bird, they shouldn't have any problem looking up the actual owner complete with address and phone number.

I've already fired off an email to Foy's but their toll free number is:

(877)355-7727

And their email is:

foyspigeon@zoominternet.net

Do you know the extent of the injuries? We'll probably have a response from Foy's today or tomorrow at the latest. You can tell the animal hospital to "stand down" on locating the owner--I'm sure they've got better things to do with their time.

Well, you're welcome but it sounds as though all we did was to keep you calm that something was being done to find its home because you didn't think they'd come through in finding it.

We sometimes have bad experiences with animal hospitals wanting to euthanize pigeons (just because they're pigeons if nothing else) so we're usually spooked to go to those places (not hard to tell, eh?).

Anyhow, thanks so much for caring for this little fella'--you're an alright guy in our eyes!
