Found Pigeon - Mr. Peckapoo the King Pigeon

My grandkids brought a pigeon here to my house almost 4 months ago. He was sitting in the gutter in the pouring rain & some mean kids were throwing rocks at him. My grandkids soon took care of THEM & brought him to me. He hangs out with my parakeets (they have a cage but are never in it) & he has his own table with his food & drink & grit. We thought he was a great big white dove, but turns out he is a king pigeon (& he thinks he's the king around here). He loves to take bath in big turkey roasting pan ..(I never tell him any birds were roasted in it). He looks funny sitting in that pan so very nicely. He likes parakeet food, but I get him cockatiel feed too & also sunflower seeds. He is quite healthy & likes to sit on the TV & look out the window. I also bought him a little teeny wicker picnic basket at goodwill & i put seeds in it for him & he likes them better when he can get them out of his little basket. His name is Pecka-Poo & we all sure love him. !! He does have a band on his leg..sort of a rubbery one, but it does not have any markings on it.

He sounds like a sweetie. If you have a feed store nearby they may have pigeon food. Also check at PetSmart/Petco for dove food which should suit his needs.

With that kind of band, perhaps he was raised as a roasting bird. Markets that sell kings for food don't put numbered bands on. He probably escaped from the truck on the way to the big pan in the sky. Shhh...don't tell Mr. Pecka-poo. It might give him a complex.
