Heads up.Hey,
My Dad is working three jobs right now and two of them are construction jobs uptown. While my Dad was uptown working, he found and caught a pigeon with an injured leg. He's not home yet, but when he gets here I'll have to take pics of the leg(As long at it's before 2:00-2:30, because I have to go support a Youth drama team.. I'm one of the directors). If I get home later, I will show you pictures of the leg, unless it's not something visible, then I'll have to take a video or explain how the pigeon is moving about. I'll be keeping him inside for now.. I don't know if he's the same pigeon I saw before, but I've seen a pigeon uptown limping about eating bread before and my Dad described his movement as "limping", so.. We'll have to see. This is just a heads up in case I need to post and ask questions about the injury. I'll go ahead and read the sticky threads to see if there's anything that answers my questions first, though. Take care. ![]() |

Okay, well.. Now I don't know if I'll ever get to help that injured pigeon because my Grampy was working on the job with my Dad and let the pigeon go when my Dad went to bring me to pick up the pigeon!!! I was pretty upset, because my Dad told me it didn't fly at all and was limping around the pizza place they're fixing up. I'm afraid that a cat or car could get it.. Even ignorant people. I told my Grandfather the importance of the pigeon getting the right care and he told me that he'll look for it today while he's on the job. I looked all around last night where the pigeon was, but to no avail.. If he's sticking around there, then maybe he'll show himself today while my Grampy's working. Let's hope my Grandfather finds him!

My Dad came home from the job and said he couldn't find it, but he's trying to get a pair of Squeakers that will end up being abandoned because the guys are replacing a window unit that the birds have used for a nest and the nest itself will be destroyed! Oi.. I hope he can get them before they starve!
Now I have to worry about a few pigeons there. Thanks for the good luck wishes. I really hope we can get them.. Without their parents, they might get too cold as well.. Ugh. I hope this works out... |

Thank you, MaryJane! I will post as soon as I get any info. My Dad said tomorrow we can stop by the work site, because I insisted that those babies get rescued ASAP!! I'll keep my eyes peeled for that injured pijjie as well, but everyone I asked said they haven't seen it. *Sigh* Anyway, I'll update once anything comes up.

Hi Ashbel,
I am sure your grandfather made an honest mistake releasing the pigeon and probably did not know. If it is any consolation to you, pigeons are pretty strong and tough birds and if he was able to fly away, I am certain he will be alright. I have seen many feral pigeons limping, but otherwise in good shape. |

Yes, Victor, you're right. I was a little frustrated until I talked to my Grampy again and he just said the pigeon was waiting in a box for me and he felt bad. I feel bad the pigeon had to wait too, but at least within a little while he would have the proper care. Now that he's gone though, I'm agreeing with you and hoping he flew off and will be okay.. I did see another pigeon uptown before, limping about, but he was perfectly fine otherwise. I'm hoping that's him right now.
The thing that made me worry is that Dad said he didn't seem to be able to fly at all and he was able to scoop him up without the bird freaking out. Just being concerned, I guess.. ![]() |

Okay, now I don't know if we'll EVER be able to reach the poor squeakers because they're so afraid that whenever we try to get them, they run through a tunnel system that goes up into the building somewhere! It sounds a little funny, but we need to get them out of there! The parents won't have access to them with this new unit and they'll be left to starve. My Dad doesn't want me going on the swing staging they're using for the construction, but I REALLY want to give catching them a swing. I've learned how to be swift/stealthy about catching them now(I've had pigeons refuse to come in a few times because they weren't hungry enough).
My Dad doesn't even want me to go to the job site because he knows I'm not fearless when it comes to helping animals. To me it's like "Come on, Dad.. I'm 20 years old!", lol.. Ah well, I know this has been dragging on for a while, but I SUPER hope he'll let me go.. I might catch a bus and sneak down tomorrow to see if I can help.. I'm really worried for their well-being. Maybe the owner of the building will allow us to go up inside where they're running to and remove them somehow, because I'm sure they dislike all the pigeon poop(Being typical business people). I'm wishing for the best on this one. |
