Help! I found a baby pigeon in NYC!I can't keep this bird; I have two cats and I live in an apartment. It is 18-20 days old and must have fallen out of its nest. It is very active and healthy; right now I have it in a cardboard box in my office and I hear it hopping around. I don't want to talk to it too much, because I don't want it impriting on me. There are no rehab facilities in New York, and I don't have access to a yard. I'm afraid that if I bring it to Animal Rescue, they will euthanize it.
Any ideas? If I can find a way to keep it in a flower pot on my window sill, and I can figure out a way to feed it, will it eventually fly away on its own? |

Hi Wendyc122
thank you for taking in this poor pigeon. Hang in there, we have members in NYC who will be able to help you out. Have you tried to give him food and water? Put a bowl of water in his box and dip his beak halfway into the bowl. Hopefully he is able to drink on his own. If you have seeds, please offer him some. He might be hungry enough to attempt to eat. There also a couple of yahoo groups with many members in NYC. Let me find the links for you so you can post there too. Reti |

Hang in there Wendy. You are so nice to have taken this baby in. Someone will respond and be able to offer you the help you need. This site is friendly and full of pigeon lovers! I bet one of them lives close by and will be able to take this baby out of your office and into their loft. I hope this happens quickly for the sake of that baby bird. Good luck.
