latest picture of pigeon in sydneyHe seems to be eating well, the nipple idea works great.
We're feeding him every two hours during the day. We also got a red lamp to place over his little nest/bowl. He seems healthy; moving a lot. ![]()

Thank you for taking good care of this little guy. He is so precious and the crop looks quite full. How many mls' are you feeding him?
I used to cover my teeny ones with a scrap of wool blanket which was very light weight, not only to kep them warm but keep any air drafts off of them. His legs are not sitting properly under him, if they stay that way, they will grow incorrectly. Do you have any tiny bowl (nest shaped), or basket, that you can use to keep him somewhat confined. The bowl will help keep their feet under them. It is important as many babies loose their grip and develop splay legs. I have a cereal bowl that works, I just load it and pad it down with paper towels for the baby to fit and be comfortable in, and it works. Last edited by Trees Gray; 1st September 2005 at 04:23 AM. |

Hi poochee...
...what a little cutie! And a full Crop to boot! Indeed on the 'legs' there...in fact get some coarse clean short twigs and put a handfull of them like a little 'mat' in some shallow small bowl for his feet to have their irregular surface to wrap his little toes around. Flat is not good for Babys... Rumpled cloths are fine for older ones, but at this age, rough twigs are prolly best. Watch out he does not become chilled in occasions of feeding also...they can chill easily and fast, especially if air conditioning or drafts are occuring... Keep us posted!
