Hi .. first things first ..
Where are you located? There may be help nearby No, the young pigeon won't gape for you .. you have to gently open the beak and insert food. Do you have baby bird formula? Or can you soak some pieces of dry dog or cat food in water until soft and feed pieces of that? Or some thawed frozen peas? By the way .. welcome to the forum. We'll do our best to help you with this youngster. Terry |

Hello and welcome to pigeons.com
Thank you for helping this youngster. If you need some help, please check the resources link in our daily forum. At three weeks of age they still are needy and require a hand feeding. You can gently open the beak with thumb and forefinger and put a thawed and drained pea or corn in the back of the throat. Allow the bird to close its beak to swallow and repeat. You can also try a little soaked & drained puppy chow, that is broken in tiny pieces. The bird needs about a tablespoon per sitting four times per day. He may resist and struggle at first but once he realizes you are feeding him, it gets easier. |
