He just showed up! He only has the yellow tag. No id number. I love him. He is very sweet. He does not fly at all since I have had him. It has to be somewhere around 3 weeks now? Not quite sure. Hey, am I supposed to just feed him in the am and then in the pm? I have an endless bowl of food and he seems to only eat the cracked corn. Maybe he is too fat or full to fly?

I would have him checked out by a vet. There must be a reason he is not flying.
I have fat pigeons that do fly. As for a mate, you can get him any girl pigeon, I don't think he would mind. Unless you want to breed them. Do you know if it is a he or she? Reti |

If the birds wings haven't been clipped then there is no reason for the bird not to be flying. Why don't you take him to an avian vet as Reti said, or a rehabber, or even someone who has had pigeons for a while and can check him out for you. Not flying is an odd behavior for a pigeon, and you need to look into it if you love him. I would also try to get a real pigeon seed mixfor him and not give him the cracked corn mix anymore. He can have corn, but it should be whole corn. |

I bought cracked corn first since that is what the man at the feed store suggested. He dove right in. I just didn't think it was enough. Then I bought a regular pigeon food, not the Racing food since it is loaded with protein and I wasn't thinking he'd be racing again. He picks through the food and finds only the corn pieces! He scatters all the rest of the food! I will check tomorrow with a vet. I actually work next door to a vet who sees birds. This may be my best bet. I am not positive that he is a he. He just seems to be male. He gulps his water with his whole face and he is large. Thanks for the help.
