Rescues from the North County Shelter

Here are the rest of the birds that Michael and I got out of the shelter last Friday.http://picasaweb.google.com/Margaret...rds111907120PM

Sorry to not get them up till now. Too many things going on. I believe many of them are racers. I think I got all of them, but many of them look pretty much alike and won't stand still for their portraits, so there may be duplicates or I may have missed one. See what you think about their breeds.

Most of them look like racers to me. The one with the "real" band has a chip ring on it's leg, so it was actually lost in a race and since it's a 2006 bird, most likely lost earlier this year. The others look like someone just didn't get them banded for whatever reason.

You and Micheal do so much -- so glad to hear you rescued these babes too They are so beautiful. Are you both going to divide and keep them - or are you planning to rehome all of them? Thanks for all the pictures!

I am building a new loft. Im starting on it tomorrow and its going to be bigger than the one I have now 8' x7.5' x7' (High). So I will keep as many of them as i can with my dads approval and based on if the owners can be found, as none of the 10 I have, have bands. So finding their owners is going to be a job and 1/2 if they even have an owner that wants them back.

Ill post better pictures tomorrow and any and all progress made on my new loft. Its going to look good when its done. Ive done a little bit of research and Im not going to make the outside out of sheets of ply wood but of long boards layered on top of one another. Its hard to explain so I will just post pictures later .

One of the banded ones is from the Orange County Flyers club (AU). I've already spoken to the club secretary, and he will be calling me back with the owner information. The other banded one is a 2000 bird that is wearing a band sold directly by the AU, and I have asked Deone to look that one up for me. Both the banded ones are now in 911 Pigeon-Alert.

Thanks again Margaret and Michael! You guys are the best!

Terry
