Spot's a Girl!! egg laid!

Spot just laid an egg!!!I threw some tissues, and soft towels to make a quick nest for it in her cage....I have no idea if she'll sit on it. I can't incubate it anyways ...no wonder she was in a mood today....

any chance its fertile?? I found her Sunday, she laid it this night (thurs).

Congratulations!!!

It is quite possible it is fertile. Make sure she has accesss to plenty of calcium grit, that she is warm and has access to bathing.

She's waiting to lay a second one and then she will start sitting on them both. You can do a search here, and lots of information will come up for you to read.

Since you've not had Spot but a few days, it's safe to assume that she must have had a mate where ever she came from. I don't know if the egg would be fertile or not. There's been some questions/conversations about that recently and I don't know that anyone ever came up with a definite answer as to when the mating has to occur in order for the eggs to be fertile.
I had always heard and I read (somewhere) that the pair has to mate within 24 hours of an egg being laid for it to be fertile. Don't know if that's correct or not.
However, she will lay a second egg, and I would suggest boiling the eggs or replacing them with plastic/wooden eggs, "just in case"...........
