Subject: Live Poultry Market hell/has Racing Pigeons

Live Poultry at 36-51 College Point, Flushing, NY not only keeps pigeons (and quail together in the same conditions/cell) without clean water and without food (quail always walk in poo poo and then in the water) but among the pigeons put for slaughtering. They have banded pigeons (racers). I could see at least three: "PL 1853; 1645 and 0312" but there were more in the back.Please everyonereport the piracy and abuse to whom it must a.s.a.p. and try to contact the owners of at least the above three kidnapped birds.Thanks.

I have no idea what the PL stands for. I would guess and say it's a polish band of some kind. Most likely these birds were sold to the market to resell......just a guess. This is sickening but I don't know who you'd call or what could be done about it short of buying the birds right then and there. Sadly, this type of thing goes on all the time all over the US and world for that matter. Unless you are going to one of these places to specifically try to rescue birds or buy birds, which if that's what you're doing, why complain about the conditions, I don't know why anyone would be at such a place to begin with.

Yeah I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they're Polish pigeons. Searched Pipa and found some racers with bands like PL-32-90-13216.

This is really sad though. I hope someone can help these poor birds before it's too late!

That's what I thought. I tried finding those letters in some posts on the 911 site but didn't come up with anything. Some old fanciers in NY wanted to get rid of some birds and they took them to the market. Simple as that. Sad......but that's what they do.

And just think, those birds could have made some new fancier very proud. Especially the young ones who aren't looking for anything special to start with.

It was a member of the NYC bird club, and I believe they go to such places JUST to check on conditions. And may rescue birds but I doubt they can rescue them all.
