A strain of bird flu only 14 miles away from me

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4949026.stm

I have e-mailed my local paper suggesting that it is a good time to reassure people that they won't catch bird flu from pigeons, might be a good idea for other uK members to e-mail the local and national press.

This is indeed distressing news Cynthia. I am so sorry.
I know you are armed with the latest documentation regarding pigeons not suspected of being carriers, but was wondering if there is anything we can do from the other side of the pond?

Please keep us posted.

Cindy

I'm so sorry this is happening at all but certainly very concerned that it is so close to you. Let's hope it ends with the sacrifice of all those poor chickens.

Cynthia,

I know this is devastating news for you, and I'm sorry...but there have been more positive news stories coming out around here in regards to pigeons and the flu. I think as time passes the REAL facts are surfacing.

Please let us know if we can e-mail anyone or do something else to help you.

That is terrible news. I just hope people won't panic, which is unlikely, but...

Cynthia, I'm also sorry to hear you're on the front lines, so to speak. On the other hand, you are well placed to help defuse public panic over this. But I'm sure you're worried about your babies, as I would be.
