Google's search accuracy due to PigeonsThis is several years old, but I just discovered it. It most certainly must have been listed here at some time or other, so forgive. But Google claims a pigeon roost with computers, for the success of their fast and accurate searches.
Quote: "Aren't pigeons really stupid? How do they do this? While no pigeon has actually been confirmed for a seat on the Supreme Court, pigeons are surprisingly adept at making instant judgments when confronted with difficult choices. This makes them suitable for any job requiring accurate and authoritative decision-making under pressure. Among the positions in which pigeons have served capably are replacement air traffic controllers, butterfly ballot counters and pro football referees during the "no-instant replay" years." HI Lolitta's Mom,
I read the whole page and was fascinated, sometimes squirmed tho @ the ethics of going to parks and collecting w/dogs. Although of course the implications for the intelligence of pigeons was overwhelming. Couldn't help but wonder if in fact, having them serve on the Supreme Court might be a better alternative to the existing mode of placement, after all could George Dubya really compete?? Then I read this at the bottom: Note: This page was posted for April Fool's Day - 2002. So, are they kidding or what?? fp |

Hi Lolita's Mom,
I've seen this one before, but it's a good one that I'm sure our members will get a kick out of viewing. Thanks! Yes, this was an April Fools Day joke by Google....a cute one. Linda |
