Help!Hello,
I have a question for anyone that can answer it for me. There is a person close to where I live that is laying out what appears to be bird seed but the seed is much smaller that the seed one would purchase in the stores and has within the seed very small slivers of some gray matter. I suspect that this is poison but I do not know for sure. I will say however; both the pigeons and some of the little birds seem to disappear from the area from time to time. Prior to me noticing this; there were so many little birds in the trees that theirs little songs would actually wake me up in the morning. I really miss that, and would appreciate any feed back that anyone can give me. Thank you. Have a great day. MMK San Francisco, CA |

I'm still thinking about this one....
kind of dumbfounded.... how could anyone do such an incredible cruel thing to all God's (birdy) Creatures. If you suspect that is what is happening, get a sample of the seed and other grey matter and find out if it is actually poison. Then report it to any agency that will listen but especially to a govt. agency, like fish, game and wildlife, so you can get results. This person/persons should be held accountable. You should report it to the police too. ...."what you do to the least of God's creatures..." doesn't only mean the human kind.

Why don't you simply confront this person the next time you see him and ask him what he thinks he is doing?
Sometimes just confrontation and challenge is all that it takes to get it stopped. |

I suggest to take a video camera if you have one and catch him red-handed doing this...Play the game of lets feed the pigeons...Throw some of your feed and see if the pigeons are going to come down and eat it, then try to stay out there with them and have a video cam or a digi-cam ready for any confrontation, I can guarantee to you that he will back-off when he see someone is feeding those birds and you're there to confront him in case he say something to you...He will lose the case because that's animals ccruelty and he have no license to get rid of the pigeons, anywhere you go...
Pick-up some of those seed that he is throwing to kill the birds and call the authorities...

If you suspect it is poisoned seed, you can call Animal control as it is illegal to poison songbirds.

I think you'll have more success by saying he's killing off our Song birds/Doves and not saying, "pigeons". Call them doves if you most, but not pigeons. Ignorance is very strong where pigeons are concerned. People really don't seem to like them when they are called pigeons, but call them doves and "Oh, how pretty!". They are afterall rock doves.
