This sounds like what I have always wanted for my rescues:

That sounds wonderful, doesn't it.

Our local zoo has a huge walk in aviary with double doors (and a heavy plastic tarp to enter thru) to keep the "residents" from escaping. It is alot of fun going in there, as some of the birds will come sit on your shoulder.

That doves looks almost like a baby pigeon, with the little head and big long beak. What an interesting looking dove. It's nice that the zoo is including them too for people's education.

Sounds like the zoo is making steps towards the visitors getting the one on one experience.
One of our zoos also have a walk thru avairy with huge trees, plants, a pool and stream. Its fun to try and see how many different species we can find.
