Man threatened with prosecution for "harbouring" a cockerel

This is so ridiculous. next they will be prosecuting people for letting collared doves and wood pigeons coo on their TV aerials.

No it is not ridiculous at all.

For reasons I do not understand there are people who do not want to see birds, hear birds or worse, see others feeding birds. In many cases these kranks run to the village governmental body and complain about nuisance. And wonder of wonders, the village governmental bodies often respond with threats of prosecution.

I tell the people on the receiving end of these threats that they have to fight back or they will just be pushed into a corner where they must take down their bird feeders and hide in the house. One man up in Minnesota had gotten used to feeding Canada geese and wild birds when the village came after him because of nieghbor's complaints. He told me that when he stopped feeding them, in the middle of winter no less, the birds would all come around looking in his windows trying to find him.

If you want people to buy into the myth of the rugged individual, you had better be prepared to accept the fact they believe they are all different and each and every one of their complaints had better be listened to and acted on.

Ask any policeman.

That is so ridiculous...They just want to make a big fuss about the animals who wakes them up in the morning, I say the rooster is better than alarm clocks, you don't have to change batteries or slam your hand on it to shut it off...They just have to work on their anger issues...
