New Name for this Web Site

To all members of Pigeons.com

Changes in the Wind!

Pigeons.com name has changed to:
http://www.pigeon-life.net

The Pigeons.com identity is being changed to better reflect what this site has evolved into - the protection and care of pigeons on this planet. My vision is to shift the focus even more so and to that end I have a few changes planned that I'd like to share with you.

First, the website will soon be redesigned to reflect this emphasis.

The site name will be changed to www.Pigeon-Life.net - I have reserved several additional domain names to make sure people and search engines will continue to find us. Pigeonlife.net, Pigeonlife.com and Pigeon-Life.com.
My intention is to rebrand the site as www.Pigeon-Life.net and would appreciate your help in keeping the new brand representation pure.

The Pigeon-Talk Forum was not so long ago reorganized to support this vision. Consequently the format, design and philosophy will continue as it is today.

We will be sending out e-mail to all members regarding this name and location change, but in the mean time, we would appreciate all of your help in getting the word out.

I also want to thank you each for your dedication and contributions to the daily cause and success of this web site. The site has achieved truly amazing results on behalf of pigeons and those who love them, the world over, thanks to all of you.

We have truly become a Pigeon-Life Net.

Pigeons Forever.
BigBird

Thanks Bigbird, for the heads up, and for this wonderful site. As just a question of the mechanics of the transition, will our old bookmarks to threads that we've found informative be able to be accessed with our bookmarks from Pigeon Talk?

Thanks for the great site Carl. I am looking forward to the changes. Will Pigeons.com still be a valid name in the future or is it being retired altogether?

The forum links with continue to work for you.
Pigeons.com has been acquired by another party.
Do not know how that domain name will be used exactly in the future.
Regards,
Carl

Hi Carl,

Would you mind getting out that E-mail about the name change as soon as possible. There are people out there writing in, I am referring to some recent newcomers, who will likely get discouraged about not being able to to locate the site all of a sudden and will not know where to look to find us and get back in. I am not meaning to be a pain, but I think it is important to do. One person in particular that I was corresponding with, has not written in today and likely has no idea where we have gone. So I am a little concerned. I did send an E-mail to that person myself but I cannot manage sending one to all as that is out of my control.

Thanks,

Cameron

Carl, thank you for the information. I found I can still access this wonderful forum through my original bookmark "Pigeons.com" and the other site doesn't show up anymore.

Do you know of anything we, as members, can do to counter the other site links? Those links go against everything we stand for here at "Pigeon-Life". Will it just take time?

I do appreciate your continuing to support this site. We all enjoy it so very much.

Maggie

You bring up a good point about competition in the area of pigeons. As long as there is money being spent to control pigeons, we will see advertising on the internet.
Our goal must be to persue our own agenda, pushing for humane control, and showing the uneducated how beautiful and compelling the lives of pigeons really are, to us and to others around the world.
Pigeons are unfortunately caught in the middle, but our continuing goal must be to advocate humane treatment for all pigeons and www.pigeon-life.net will do just that.
Regards,
Carl

Although I understand the business reality, I am saddened by the name change because I think it will make it harder for new people to find this forum. Unfortunately, a search engine will now bring up many other "pigeon" sites before ours. JMHO. I do appreciate the existence and continuing support you provide this forum.

Much work goes into promoting a name, or a brand if you will. Will be interesting to see how the person who purchased the name Pigeons.com will use it going forward. Had I known it was going to be for sale, I may have bid on it myself. The name seemed like a natural for people trying to find us on a search engine, where they would simply key in the word pigeons.....
